The South Australian Fresh Water Anglers Association (SAFWAA) is a family oriented angling club. People of all ages and abilities may join and pursue their choice of legal fishing method. The club also holds regular saltwater fishing events and outings designed to open new avenues of the sport to members, whether it be fly fishing tuition or trips to South Australia’s best fishing locations.
The club stocks over twenty private dams in the north and south of Adelaide, all of which are available to members upon joining. Natives including cod, catfish, silver perch and callop are stocked in all waters and protected to ensure members can continue to enjoy them. Brown and rainbow trout are also routinely stocked on a put and take basis and trophy sized redfin are on offer.
SAFWAA continues to promote all aspects of recreational angling and is dedicated to increasing public access for South Australia’s freshwater venues. The club has been involved in lobbying for increased access to freshwater venues and continues to work towards the enhancement of recreational angling in the state.
Join The Club
All are welcome to attend monthly meetings before joining. These are held at 7:30pm on the first Tuesday of each month at the SA Police Club - 27 Carrington Street Adelaide. Bistro meals and bar facilities are available, with some members typically arriving half an hour before the meeting for meals. Meetings consist of club fishing reports and provide useful information for all regarding methods and techniques to catch fish. With a membership base of over 400 there is a wealth of information of all things fishing and discounted tackle is available.
New members are welcome to participate as they wish: come to all events and meetings, or none at all and only enjoy the dams. Our emphasis is on the enjoyment factor for all, whatever that entails. For details of membership including fees, follow the membership link. Any specific inquiries will be answered via contact.
